Opening in August 2026, Bear Canyon Lodge has been thoughtfully designed to immerse guests in one of the world’s most extraordinary Spectacled Bear habitats while providing exceptional comfort in the heart of the Andes.
The lodge features five spacious safari-style domes, each offering 28 square meters (300 square feet) of thoughtfully appointed living space. Every dome accommodates two guests and includes a private ensuite bathroom with hot shower, creating a comfortable retreat after each day in the field.
At the heart of the property is a striking central dining dome, where guests gather to enjoy regional cuisine, share the day’s wildlife encounters, and take in sweeping views of the deep, bromeliad-festooned river canyon.
One of the lodge’s most distinctive features is its private aerial tram, an engineering marvel that quietly descends 800 feet (245 meters) into the canyon where the highest concentration of Spectacled Bears is found. Each tram carries up to three guests, allowing small groups of 6 to 12 visitors to reach the valley floor with minimal disturbance to wildlife. After several unforgettable hours observing bears, guests return to the lodge aboard the same safe and comfortable tram.
