Bird spectacles of the Ecuadorian Andes: Condors, Long-wattled Umbrellabirds, Hummingbirds, Tanagers, and Toucans
In our decades of visits to Ecuador, we have found spectacular locations at 90 minutes and 2.5 hours from Quito, respectively, that offer wonderful viewing of Andean Condors at high elevation, and in mid-elevation cloud forests, unbelievable assemblages of hummingbirds, tanagers, toucans, and Andean Cocks-of-the-Rocks. We even found a new location where we can view male Long-wattled Umbrellabirds doing their bizarre displays.
We are intimately-familiar with all the scores of lodges and bird feeder attractions of Ecuador. Through our new Quito-based company, SouthWild Ecuador, we keep close tabs on all updates and news from the Andean forests reachable within 2-3.5 h of the Quito Airport.
