Torres del Paine National Park

An iconic introduction to Torres del Paine, combining the classic vistas with wildlife and short, scenic walks.

We are wildlife fanatics, but we are well aware that perhaps most travelers are not as focused on wildlife as we are. Regardless of your degree of enthusiasm for wildlife, however, both wildlife lovers and more “normal” travelers all find the dramatic mountain scenery of the Paine Massif to be captivating. The landscapes in this 600,000-acre protected area are so striking that even seasoned globetrotters call it the most beautiful national park in the world.

Therefore, our Puma Extreme itineraries also intentionally feature a number of outings that allow for landscape photography of the Torres del Paine National Park from the classic locations from the south (Lago Pehoé) and from the east (Laguna Amarga and Laguna Azul). We believe that most well-balanced wildlife trips to the Paine area should include several opportunities to take superb landscape shots, especially in the first hour of the day for shots from the east, and at different times of day for shots from the south.

Only after years of Puma trips to Torres del Paine did we stumble upon a secret, unadvertised lookout surprisingly near one of our favorite hotels. This site, which offers our favorite vista in all of Patagonia, offers a stunning, 270-degree view that includes the Paine Massif looming over a dramatic, turquoise-colored glacier lake. Amazingly, since 2015, we have made many visits to that viewpoint but have yet to find anyone else there enjoying the vista.

The mesmerizing scenery of Torres del Paine National Park, eye-to-eye encounters with trusting, doe-eyed Guanacos, and walking with hunting Pumas on the adjacent ranch make this park an unforgettable experience. Our agents can design the perfect trip for you to this mind-blowing park.
